Dear J1 Parents,
Friday 8th October
What a pleasure it is to teach J1. They are beginning to work well as Juniors and have settled into the way the Junior section of the school works. It is very different from the Infants and they all seem to have made the adjustment well.
Can I please ask you to check and sign their planners, each week. We record good behaviour marks , spellings, homeworks and reading records in there. Also with regard to reading the school reading scheme books, the children should read a few pages, out loud, to an adult, each evening. This should be noted by an adult in the planners and signed to say they have done it, together with the page number. The expectation is that children should read the school reading book, another book from the classroom bookshelf, a book from the school library and , or any other book from home that they wish to read. So 3 or 4 books per week, to increase their vocabulary and exposure to good quality ,age appropriate literature.
Can I also take this opportunity to ask for you to send in photos of any awards, medals, trophies, certificates for the class WOW board. We like to celebrate the children's achievements out of school too so if you have any pictures you could send in it would help the children to see just how their personal achevements are valued.
I check the mail before and after work and if you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to email me. I am never too busy to listen to you or your child's concerns. Also if you want to pop in to see me in the J1 classroom I am available before school from 08:15 to 08:45 and some evenings after school usually Monday, Thursday and Friday unless there is a prior diary engagement.
J1 Form teacher.
