Stratford Preparatory School Our Aims and Ethos  

Stratford Preparatory School is an Independent Preparatory School for boys and girls aged 2 -11 years. We are located in the Old Town of Stratford Upon Avon. 
 
We foster a family orientated, caring environment. Being small, about 140 children, each one of our teachers know each one of our children. This knowledge allows us to respond to each child's individual needs, ensuring we provide the children with the very best start in life .  
 
We maintain high academic standards. All of our teachers are graduates and we achieve excellent results, yet we have no entrance exam and there is no selection later in the school. All children follow a full curriculum and prepare for the 11+ and private school entrance examinations. 
 
We are aiming to prepare the children for modern life whilst preserving their childhood. We encourage a certain amount of formality, with an "old fashioned" emphasis on good behaviour and respect for ourselves and others. 
 
We adopt a straightforward approach to education, we do things properly, never cutting corners. We mark all of the children's work to be sure that they have understood their lessons and to inform our future planning. We also hear all children read, right through to Junior 4. We hold a weekly book inspection to ensure standards are maintained, share best practise and monitor consistent marking. All teachers are observed teaching termly.  
 
We genuinely encourage a relationship with our parents. We employ an open door policy each morning, termly parents evenings, formal reports twice a year and a digital blackboard for each class noting important messages for the week. 
 
We encourage an appreciation of British Values as well as understanding and tolerance of all religions. We hold a termly service at Holy Trinity Church.
